Putty World announces Switch 2, classic System 3 redesigned for modern times

System 3 officially announced Putty Worlda modern reinterpretation of the Putty series that dates back to the 16-bit era, will be nintendo switch 2 will launch in the second quarter of 2027. A demo version of the game will be available for play at the Tokyo Game Show 2026, which will be held at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, from September 17th to 21st.

“With Putty World, we’re not just asking ourselves how to recreate the games of the past, we’re asking ourselves what we could have created in the mid-’90s if we could have leveraged today’s technology,” System 3 founder and CEO Mark Cale said in a press release. “The original Putty was shaped by the imagination of its creator and the capabilities of the hardware of the time.

According to System 3, the version shown at Tokyo Game Show 2026 represents “a playable technology and graphics demonstration that is still in its preliminary stages” and is intended to showcase some of the innovations introduced in the game.

The game brings together the worlds of Putty, Super Putty and Putty Squad in one package. Continuing the adventure, players will unlock recreated and updated levels inspired by other chapters in the series. There are 75 new or heavily revised levels, including over 45 new enemies and overhauls. The development heralds more surprises, including Last level boss and unique conflicts.

Protagonist Putty also gets a more pronounced characterization, with over 50 facial expression combinations, allowing him to react more dynamically to what’s going on around him.
