Warcraft III: Reforged: Blizzard releases additional content “Forgotten Kingdoms”

At BlizzCon, developer Blizzard Entertainment conducted a comprehensive content and system update for the strategy game “Warcraft III: Reforged”, and also released the paid expansion “Forgotten Kingdoms” in the form of a direct shadow drop. This is the first official add-on content with a new story campaign since the release of The Frozen Throne in 2003. This DLC bridges the narrative from the Fall of Lordaeron to the rise of the Forsaken under the leadership of Sylvanas Warwalker in the Undercity. Released together with free system update 3.0, it aims to permanently correct the foundation of the remake that has long been criticized by the community.

The Forgotten Realms expansion includes the prologue and three main chapters of The Last Days of Lordaeron, providing a total of over 30 hours of new gameplay. From a narrative perspective, the DLC follows the undead’s struggle to escape the control of the Scourge and the construction of the Undercity.

In terms of game mechanics, this version expands the system and introduces the first new hero model in twenty years: the Forsaken Paladin. It can be used as a neutral hero unit in the expansion, or in regular multiplayer modes at no additional cost.

The game is now available on the Battle.net store for €29.99. PC Game Pass subscribers can access the base game Remastered for free by purchasing the DLC separately. Alternatively, the limited-time Warcraft Forever Collection bundles DLC with the base game and content for World of Warcraft Forever.

At the same time as the paid plug-in, Blizzard also released patch update 3.0, which is free for all “Remastered” owners and upgrades the Remastered version to “final version” status. The update includes comprehensive overhauls of in-game graphics, optimized performance profiles, and a redesigned user interface.

At the level of game mechanics, the maximum selection limit for unit formations has been doubled from 12 units to 24 units. In addition, the integrated world editor has been extensively upgraded for modding scenes, integrating new lighting tools, adjustable shadows, automatic mini-map generation, expanded LUA scripting support, and more.
