Sony has launched the PlayStation Pulse and Pulse Edge wireless gaming headsets. The new products share the same design, with studio-grade planar magnetic emitters, but offer different features.

According to the company, the PlayStation Pulse uses larger planar magnetic drivers compared to the PlayStation Pulse Elite headset model released in 2024. Obviously, the PlayStation Pulse model is cheaper. Each speaker has four magnets, while the Pulse Edge model has eight magnets per driver, delivering richer, deeper bass. In addition, the pulse edge model’s transmitter features noise reduction.
The PlayStation Pulse comes with a fixed microphone with AI noise cancellation, while the Pulse Edge comes with a detachable microphone with AI noise cancellation. Both headphones have built-in volume switches. When connected to PS5, Pulse Edge also offers voice audio setup and comes with a carrying case. Both models support Tempest 3D surround sound.
PlayStation Pulse and Pulse Edge headsets are compatible with PlayStation Link-enabled devices, including PS5 consoles, PlayStation Portal remote gaming devices, PCs and Macs. The headset also supports simultaneous Bluetooth connections to multiple devices.
Sony didn’t reveal how much the headphones it showed cost. They will be available in early 2027 and will be available in all black and black and white color options.
