To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the release of No Man’s Sky, we held a special adventure event “Our Journey Continues.” Hello Games decided to celebrate the anniversary not only with awards, but also by looking back at its own history and the return of forgotten elements of the game.
The developers have prepared mechanics familiar to veterans, Easter eggs and references to past updates. Some elements are actually resurrected from older versions of No Man’s Sky, so veteran players will experience a bit of nostalgic secret-hunting fun, while new players can get a glimpse into the game’s past.
The main awards also follow an anniversary theme. Players will be able to receive a set of nine paintings containing the cover of the major update, an unusual companion to the ship’s cockpit created based on old test assets, and the Starbound v0.27 multi-tool restored from early concept art. The collection will also include a gold version of the Rasamama S36, the original launch ship, a vintage Sentinel interceptor and a Diplodocus companion.
The expedition begins today and will last approximately six weeks. You can start from the Expedition Terminal on the Space Anomaly, or you can start from a new save, which you will later be allowed to convert to a normal save. All exclusive rewards for completing each stage can be obtained in other saves via the Quicksilver Merchant on the Space Anomaly. It looks like they decided to celebrate No Man’s Sky’s tenth birthday in the most fitting way possible – by going back in time.
