Looks like a fan of the boxing series fight night I have to wait even longer for her to come back. EA Sports’ internal plans to revive the series have been scrapped, according to a new report. While the company makes its final decision, development on a new game that was supposed to return the series after more than a decade has been paused.
The latest issue in the series fight night champion – Published in 2011. EA hasn’t released a sequel since, even though the series has long been one of the publisher’s notable sports franchises. The first games began releasing in 2004, followed by four sequels in about seven years.
Fight Night Champions holds a special place in the series’ history. The game is a marked departure from traditional EA Sports titles, with a darker take on the game and a full-blown story campaign focused specifically on boxer Andre Bishop. This is also the first game Electronic Arts Sports Rated Mature by the ESRB.
Years after the release of Fight Night Champions , EA started talking about plans to revive the series. According to previous reports, a new game should be in development after launch EA Sports UFC 6The concept itself is said to be past the initial production stages. However, judging from a recent report, EA has decided to abandon the plan in 2025. At this point, development had ceased, so full-scale production on the new Fight Night never began.
The report doesn’t provide any details about the proposed game – its mechanics, fighter roster or career mode. Therefore, it remains unknown how future projects will differ from previous installments in the series, and what revenue model EA plans to use.
One reason for this may be that EA already has sports franchises dedicated to martial arts. this is about EA Sports UFCWhile it doesn’t receive new parts every year, it does return regularly with major updates. The latest game in the series is UFC 6, in which the developers have added a Flow State mechanic designed to reward players who recreate the style of authentic athletes as accurately as possible. The program’s roster includes more than 200 fighters, including current UFC stars and notable veterans.
That being said, there is potential for Fight Night to return in the future. With EA’s recent ownership change, that may change. On August 4, the company was acquired by the Saudi Arabian National Investment Fund in a deal valued at approximately US$55 billion.
Interest in boxing has grown significantly in Saudi Arabia in recent years. The country has become a venue for famous athletes such as Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua to compete in major competitions. In 2023, there was also a fight between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia. As such, long-term changes to EA’s strategy for boxing games can’t be completely ruled out, although no plans have yet been announced to resume Fight Night following the deal.
Now EA Sports continues to develop several major sports series. In addition to UFC, the company also produces annual American football and hockey games, develops EA Sports Cluband bring the College Football Series back to market in 2024. The latest is currently College Football 27to be released in July 2026.
So, 15 years after Night of Champions, the series’ long-awaited return has been postponed once again. EA did consider the possibility of rebooting the series, but it never went into full production. As of now, the company has not announced new plans for the boxing simulator, so Fight Night fans will be left waiting for the next twist in the series’ fate.
