Multiplayer first-person shooter Quake Champion has received update 1.31, which changes its release model. The free-to-play shooter became a $9.99 pay-to-play title, with microtransactions, battle pass, in-game currency and store removed. Players who have launched a shooter at least once before steam And save it in the library, you can get the paid version at no extra cost.
Along with the changes to the monetization model, weekly and event challenges, trophies, daily login rewards, and a champion development system with shards as rewards are gone from the game. Most decorations are now available to all users by default and can be selected through the Appearance section, which has been moved to the top of the main menu. In this section, profile settings are also combined with equipment and weapons.
Some projects remain exceptions. Cosmetics related to third-party companies or special achievements will not appear in the inventory unless the player owns them. For example, this category includes AMD’s ruby Nyx, Twitch rocket launcher, Nvidia’s Pulsar railgun, QuakeCon belts, and gold crowns. The latter can still be obtained by gaining elite rank.
The update adds a voting system through which users can try to weed out violators or rude participants. Voting can be conducted in matches with a minimum of four players and can be initiated through the in-game communications menu. A user may activate this program up to 3 times per match. This decision is made using the F1 and F2 keys.
The developers have also added settings that display weapon accuracy and the thickness of the outlines of allies and enemies. Adaptive frame rate stabilization should reduce performance spikes when a game is unable to maintain its FPS target. The progression system now contains 999 levels, and for every 10 liters of levels, players will receive a 24-hour experience bonus. Profile levels are also displayed on the game board.
Robots get a lot of attention. Now that they show a grade of zero on the scoreboard, their behavior has become more complex. The robot learned to recognize incoming missiles and dodge them, take damage taken into account, seek treatment based on health, and retreat from unfavorable battles. In Team Mode, the robot that finishes last in a team of three or more players gradually improves its skills until it remains in last place.
The arsenal now includes base models of the QCON 2026 machine gun, shotgun, and nail gun, as well as new skins for the Lunokol rocket launcher and Deliverer railgun. Added Etagnar’s Infernal Magic Base and five clan profile icons from Team Arena. Some items have been repositioned on the lockbox map, and a larger version of the Tower of Koth is once again available in Carnage, Team Deathmatch, and Instant Death.
Balances have not been spared. For example, the radius of effect of the Ranger’s Doom Sphere has been reduced by 40%, from 1 meter to 0.6 meters, and the dispersion damage now depends on the distance from the center of the explosion, which can be reduced by up to 50%. If another player destroys the Doom Orb, the ranger’s cooldown is reduced by 50%.
Finally, the developers reduced the number of zones where the game’s servers are located, hoping to increase player concentration and speed up matchmaking. To select an appropriate server, the interface now includes information about the queue, the number of players in the current match, and users waiting to connect.
