Chinese holding company Alibaba clearly doesn’t want to be left behind by Mark Zuckerberg’s brainchild, so at Feitian Conference this week, Alibaba showed off its own set of various artificial intelligence devices that will use proprietary models from the Qwen series. The Qwen Book series notebook computers will be equipped with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chips and run the Android-based Qwen Desktop OS operating system, which initially supports interaction with AI agents. Essentially, these laptops will run entirely within Alibaba’s proprietary ecosystem, covering operating systems, artificial intelligence models, applications and cloud services. This series of laptops is fully human-controlled and actively uses artificial intelligence services and agent solutions to speed up your standard operations. For example, creating presentations is greatly simplified as users can shape the content of the slides using the stylus, which also acts as a microphone, sensing voice requests and ensuring that the necessary information prepared by the AI model in the cloud is integrated into the editable slides. The content of the presentation can be viewed simultaneously on the smartphone of another user (a colleague or manager), who can remotely approve changes to the presentation.
Alibaba has added two new products to its smart glasses family: Qwen Glasses N1 and N1 Pro. The former is equipped with a 50-megapixel camera that can capture high-definition images. The Qwen Glasses N1 Pro model also supports tracking the user’s eyes to interact with him, identifying surrounding objects and authenticating the account holder through the eye’s iris to provide payments.
The smart wireless headset Qwen Clip is worn on the ear through the headset and supports voice interaction with the Qwen AI assistant, real-time voice translation, saving notes based on user voice comments, and using voice management tasks. Bose experts were involved in developing the headphones. It will go on sale on October 13th, and pre-orders will begin on September 22nd.
Finally, the last product in Alibaba’s new product range is the portable device QwenNote A2, which inherits the concept of the existing DingTalk A1. Essentially, this is a “smart recorder” that allows you to use six microphones to systematize the content of a conversation and transmit this information in an easy-to-understand form to Alibaba’s proprietary artificial intelligence model for further processing. The device is integrated with the QwenWork platform and involves the use of AI agents for office work. The device can use voice information it receives from the user to create schedules and charts, calculate tables and send messages. The new product is based on the Qwen-Audio AI model, which allows you to talk to agents in the most comfortable mode. The 67G device can record speech clearly from a distance of up to 8 meters; it uses its own 4G modem to communicate with the cloud infrastructure.
To ensure privacy, the audio is transmitted to the cloud in encrypted form, and the original recording is deleted after being translated into text or other forms. In standby mode, the device can operate for up to 18 days without charging and can handle 40 hours of continuous voice material. In China, the QwenNote A2 will be available through the company’s online store Tmall starting September 22 for $178.
