The Halo series is being fundamentally restructured, but this will not have an impact on planned Halo. The 25th anniversary commemoration activities will still go ahead as planned.
Things have gotten messy in Halo over the past few days. Halo Studios, which was previously in charge, suffered massive layoffs. It is said that there are only about 20 employees, who are only responsible for supporting the existing series of games. However, the future of the action series has been handed to Activision, who will develop a new major installment.
Will all of this affect the previously announced Halo Fest, an event planned to celebrate the series’ 25th anniversary? Is this likely to be cancelled? Fortunately, this aspect has now been lifted!

Tahir “Tashi” Hasangjeka, one of the series’ executives, commented on the issue via social media, stressing that the event announced to be held in Seattle, Washington, from December 11 to 13, 2026, will go ahead as planned. Current events have no impact on plans for Halo Fest.
Halo Fest celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Halo: Combat Evolved series and the launch of one of Xbox’s most important exclusive game franchises. More details about the event will be announced at a later date; the current focus is on supporting affected team members as part of the current reorganization.
