Ering launches MoDT motherboards featuring Core i7-13798HRE and Core i5-13598HRE for building low-cost gaming PCs

Erying has expanded its MoDT motherboard series integrating 13th generation Intel Core processors (Raptor Lake) with the launch of two new models. The new product does not use a desktop processor installed in a socket, but a mobile-grade chip soldered directly to the motherboard.

Usually, MoDT motherboards use standard consumer-grade Core series processors (if we are talking about motherboard models based on Intel platforms), but Erying’s new product uses a specialized chip for industrial use.

According to Erying, the Core i7-13798HRE processor can actually be considered a Core i7-13800HRE without integrated graphics. The HRE series is designed for embedded and industrial systems, but Ering has tuned these chips for the consumer MoDT platform.

The Core i7-13798HRE processor provides 14 cores and supports 20 virtual threads. It consists of six high-performance P cores and eight energy-saving E cores. In Turbo mode, the maximum frequency of the processor can reach 5.0 GHz. The chip is equipped with 24MB of L3 cache. The Core i5-13598HRE model has 4 P cores and 8 E cores (a total of 12 cores and 16 threads), and the maximum processor frequency in Turbo mode is 4.8GHz. Both chips have a nominal TDP of 55 W. Since they do not have built-in GPUs, new motherboards based on these processors require a discrete graphics card.

The dimensions of the board are 175 × 215 mm. They received two UDIMM DDR4 slots. According to Erying, the main graphics card slot connects directly to the processor via PCIe 5.0 x8, while the second expansion slot operates in PCIe 3.0 x4 mode. This is more than enough for RTX 5060 series graphics cards, but if you plan on using an RTX 5070 or more powerful model, this option is no worse due to the reduction in PCIe lanes.

This motherboard comes with 1 PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 and PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 slot for NVMe drives, and 2 SATA III ports (6 Gbit/s). In addition, they have a separate M.2 slot for installing a Wi-Fi adapter.

The company is positioning the new product primarily as a more economical way to switch to modern Intel systems while maintaining support for DDR4 memory. The Core i7-13798HRE-D4 is priced at 1,399 yuan (about $197), while the Core i5-13598HRE-D4 is priced at 1,199 yuan (about $169).
