Bandai Namco has released a video introducing the story campaign for Ace Combat 8: Wings of Tef. Players saw the first aerial combat, meeting the main companions and impressive multi-layered clouds that will become one of the distinguishing features of the visual part of the game.
The plot begins with the war between the Republic of Sotoa and the Federation of Central Ursia. The protagonist boards the Indurance after a helicopter crash and becomes the partner of legendary pilot Ian “Rex” Cope, who earned the nickname “Wings of Teva” after saving civilians.
However, it soon became apparent that popular science’s reputation was largely created by propaganda. During the next flight, the couple is attacked by Shadow Squadron fighters: the protagonist successfully ejects and Ian dies. After returning to Indurance, the protagonist must replace his deceased mentor and become the new “Wings of Teva”.
The developers also talked about the campaign, promising dynamic dogfights, cinematic first-person scenarios, and improved cloud systems. Between missions, players must interact with squadron members, strengthening relationships and proving their skills over time.
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Tef will be released on October 2 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
