Team Ninja continues to drum up interest in its upcoming project by releasing a gameplay trailer at Tokyo Game Show 2026. This video is dedicated to the hardcore action role-playing game “Wolong 2: Wings of Ashes”, which takes players into a dark version of the Three Kingdoms era and increases the freedom of exploration. The highlight of the film is Zuo Chi, a fierce boss based on Chinese mythology.
Fighting new enemies reveals the mechanics of the combat system, including the Insight skill that lets you counterattack immediately after a standard parry. Players will be able to utilize environmental elements to knock bosses into walls to stun them, as well as use temporary boosters in the form of mythical beasts, rather than simply summoning them to deal damage.
The creators took inspiration from the studio’s other major series: the world design echoes developments in Nioh 3, while the movement system is clearly based on the dynamics of Ninja Gaiden. The full version of the project is scheduled to release on March 4, 2027 for PC, existing consoles, and Nintendo Switch 2, but until then users can still try out the current demo, which will run until September 30.
