
In May of this year, Timon Smektala, the creator of the Dying Light series, is leaving Techland Studios. He then noted that he was “entering a new phase in his career.” Now, Smektala has announced that he has accepted a position with Bloober Team.
Timon Smektala has been promoted to Executive Director of Broken Mirror Games at Bloober Team and will focus on horror production. He himself announced the news on social networks and emphasized that he is currently developing two projects – “SAW: Genesis” and “Onyx: The Dark Grip”. According to Smektala, in his new position, he plans to “Proposing a new perspective on game horror”.
- “SAW: Genesis” is a cooperative horror action game based on the “Saw” series. It was originally planned to be released on Steam Early Access in late 2026, but Bloober Team recently postponed the release to early 2027 without giving a new exact date.
- Onyx: Grasp of Darkness launched recently, and there are few details about the game right now. It is understood that the game is produced in a Nintendo Switch 2-specific format.
Please note that neither game is currently confirmed for release on Xbox consoles.
