Microsoft has finally commented on the lack of AMD processors in modern Surface computers. Surface head Brett Ostrum said the company remains satisfied with its partnership with AMD, but the limited range of its own devices forces it to carefully select hardware platforms for each model. AMD previously released processors for the Surface Laptop 3 and Surface Laptop 4. However, starting with Surface Laptop 5, the company abandoned this series of chips and has not launched a new Surface equipped with AMD processors since then. Now Microsoft has adopted solutions from Intel and Qualcomm, and is also preparing devices based on NVIDIA hardware platforms.
At the same time, the relationship between Microsoft and AMD remains close in other areas. AMD processors and graphics cards power current Xbox consoles, and the two companies have entered into a multi-year agreement to collaborate on future consoles, gaming PCs and cloud systems. In addition, AMD is also co-creating portable devices ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X with Asus.
