Samsung launches Galaxy SmartTag3 – the tracker becomes lighter, more compact, lasts longer and is compatible with iPhones

Samsung Corporation propose The third-generation Bluetooth tracker Galaxy SmartTag3 is more compact and much lighter than the previous version, and for the first time in the SmartTag series, it supports not only Samsung Galaxy gadgets, but also iOS devices.

SmartTag3 is 35% smaller and 33% lighter than SmartTag2. The new Bluetooth tracker has a “tack” shape (a square with rounded corners) that’s reminiscent of the original SmartTag, but with one difference: It doesn’t have a hole for attaching a keychain. Therefore, you will also need to purchase a Samsung brand protective case.

It is reported that SmartTag3 is 10% more energy efficient than its predecessor: the replaceable CR2032 battery can last for 550 days in normal use and 790 days in energy-saving mode.

With SmartThings Find, users can check the location of a placemark, share that information with others, and use Search Nearby on supported devices. Bluetooth 6.0 channel detection technology enables Compass View to determine the tag’s movement direction and distance within a radius of up to 60 m, approximately three times that of SmartTag2. Ultra-wideband (UWB) technology provides greater accuracy as users get closer to the tag.

When the Galaxy SmartTag3 loses direct connection, Galaxy Find Network will be activated to search using Galaxy devices, which can act as a network node to help locate the Galaxy SmartTag3 and update its location, even when outside the range of the user’s phone.

With the new location notification feature, users can set a specific area and receive alerts when SmartTag3 enters or leaves that area. Using location data from the Galaxy Find Network, location notifications let you notify the owner if a pet leaves the garden or a marked bike is detected exiting the parking area.

The location history feature lets you see the tag’s movement path, and motion detection alerts notify owners of any changes to the device’s location.

Samsung Galaxy SmartTag3 will be launched in South Korea on October 7 in white and black colors. The price of the device will be announced closer to the sale start date.
