The Chinese manufacturer Great Wall has released an extremely unusual compact power supply GW-330SF with a power of 230 W, the main feature of which is physical insect protection. While software developers were battling software bugs, the company’s engineers decided to protect the computer’s internals from an apparent pest.
The secret lies in the special conformal protective coating of the printed circuit board (PCB coating). According to the inventor, this layer of insulating paint prevents cockroaches, ants, and midges from entering the housing and shorting out high-voltage components, causing a short circuit. At the same time, the coating provides basic protection against moisture and prevents the accumulation of conductive dust. This solution is less suitable for home computers and is more suitable for offices, workshops, warehouses and rural areas where systems operate under harsh conditions.
In terms of features, this is a great budget office option – this model has non-detachable multi-color cables and a standard electrical protection package (protects against overvoltage, overload and short circuits). However, being able to operate stably at altitudes up to 5,000 meters is something that no one usually claims in the power supply field. The new product is priced at only 149 yuan (about 1,900 rubles), but does not come with a power cord.
