MMORPG Temppal: Overgeared’s devs talk gear system and crafting

Developer Gray Games and publisher NEXON have released the first cinematic diary from the developers of new MMORPG Temppal: Overgeared. In it, the author talks about the extraction and development of equipment, weapon modification and crafting.

Temppal: Overgeared plans to use a variety of ways to obtain gear. For example, in the open world, elite monsters named “Infected Creatures” will appear randomly. Players will be able to defeat such opponents alone or together with other users to receive valuable rewards. Additionally, valuable drops will be dropped in raids and world bosses.

According to the developers, their main goal is to reduce the stress on farming equipment and diversify the ways in which characters can develop. However, high-end gear is still valuable and hard to come by.

For unnecessary and irrelevant equipment, a mechanic called “Royal Arsenal” is provided, where players can hand over items in exchange for a special in-game currency. In this case, the equipment can be improved in advance to increase the reward.

The weapon modification system can not only change its appearance, but also customize its characteristics according to the player’s preferences. For example, damage rate, effectiveness or accuracy of applied debuffs can be increased. Additionally, the author notes that players will be able to install various decorative elements on their weapons, including handle parts and sheaths. All of this will lead to the fact that two initially identical swords can differ in both characteristics and appearance.

Crafting will play an important role in the game. When a high-quality item is created, the creator’s name will appear on it. In addition, with such “personalized equipment”, the threshold for safe sharpening will be raised by two levels. According to the developers, this will help build a reputation as a craftsman, and players will turn to them for help in crafting high-quality gear.

The next film diary will focus on the original series and its MMORPG adaptation. However, it is known that Grid, the protagonist of the original game, will not appear in the game. The developers will explain the reasons for this decision in the next video.
