Paradox is preparing patch 4.5.2 for Stellaris, which will be released on October 6th. There won’t be a full dev diary this week due to Eladdin’s illness, but players have already seen an impressive array of changes.
The main innovation involves the Poison God’s nomadic knights: after taming or killing the Poison God’s, they will be able to use the Ark to transform poisonous candidates into habitable planets. In addition, nomads will be able to establish settlements after arriving in the Poison God system, retaining the Order’s fortresses and knights in their new homeland.
The balance will also be significantly shaken. Armor maintenance will now cost the same amount of energy and alloy as the corresponding level of shield, instead of twice. Heavy hitters will be slowed down, and pilot program bonuses will be redesigned to provide separate value for Elites, Experts, and Workers. Taking into account each group’s environmental suitability, the Fire Cult will begin to increase Fire Dancer efficiency rather than unity bonuses.
In addition, the developers have fixed a range of bugs – from freezing combat and Uprising issues to incorrect operation of Covenant, Ark and Space Fauna. Improvements to artificial intelligence and a reduction in late-game microfreezes in Nomad Empire are also promised. If all goes according to plan, the update will be released on Tuesday, October 6th.
