French peripheral manufacturer Nacon is expanding its gaming hardware portfolio with the launch of its most advanced input device to date, the Revolution 5 Unlimited (R5U). The Asymmetric Pro Controller is officially authorized by PlayStation 5 and is compatible with PC and Android smart TVs. As an innovation, the manufacturer has integrated for the first time so-called tunnel magnetoresistance technology (TMR) to prevent rod drift and increase accuracy. The peripheral also offers an integrated control screen directly on the casing, allowing you to adjust stick sensitivity, distribution and audio mix without having to call up console menus. The controller is now available for pre-order through the manufacturer’s store.
Revolution 5 Unlimited represents the continued further development of Nacon’s long-standing Revolution series. The focus of the hardware upgrade is to switch the analog joysticks to TMR magnet technology (tunnel magnetoresistance). The TMR design reduces power consumption while increasing scanning accuracy and longevity compared to traditional potentiometers and classic Hall effect sensors.
For competition purposes, Nacon equipped the main buttons with tactile microswitches and installed adjustable trigger stops (“instant triggers”) that change the trigger behavior from an analog path to an ultra-short click path. The ergonomic design is complemented by freely assignable additional buttons on the back and a system that completely eliminates the dead zone of the joystick through the dedicated “Shooter Pro” mode.
Extensive profiles and system settings can be controlled directly from the built-in display on the controller or via the mobile companion app for iOS and Android. In PC operation, the R5U reduces latency by one millisecond and expands configuration options for the integrated gyroscope sensor and key combinations. In terms of connectivity, the input device supports wireless connections as well as wired operations.
In addition to a shipping bag and other custom accessories, Revolution 5 Unlimited also comes with its own charging station for the first time on an officially licensed PS5 controller from the manufacturer. With a combination of official system licensing, asymmetrical stick layout and integrated hardware configuration, Nacon positions the accessory as a drop-in replacement for Sony’s own DualSense Edge and other advanced solutions in the esports space.
