Seol-oh and Japan’s modernization in the new “Strangers from Paradise” trailer

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has released a new video of the filming locations for the crime action movie Strangers in Paradise. Following Kokura, the developers showed Kure, a snow-covered port city that has been visibly transformed by the influence of Western culture.

The game’s events will cover the 50-year history of Tojo clan founder Daito Makoto. In 1929, the protagonist moved to Kure City 14 years after arriving in Japan, and gradually transformed from an inexperienced young man into a famous representative of the criminal world.

At the time, Kure held Japan’s largest naval arsenal. The effects of modernization are already evident in the city: traditional clothing is being replaced by formal suits, and electric lighting and other signs of Western influence are emerging. As with Ogura, there will be various activities and mini-games available to players.

Strangers in Paradise will be released on January 15, 2027 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series (including Game Pass).
