Insider RebsGaming has shared new details about the development of the next game in the Halo series, saying Activision has been developing the project long before it was officially announced.
Initially, the publisher planned to split the game into two separate parts – shareware multiplayer and a separate story campaign. The studio Sledgehammer Games was responsible for creating early prototypes and managed to iron out the basic locomotion mechanics.
The concept was later abandoned in favor of a full-fledged single release in what could be a complete reboot of the series, focusing on the Master Chief’s backstory. Although the project is still in the early stages of production, Activision president Rob Kostic is promising to deliver the best game in the series’ history, enough to continue its legendary legacy.
