The “Stop Killing Games” movement has sharply criticized the European Union’s ongoing “EU Children’s Bill”, saying it is a potential disaster for the entire video game industry.
The initiative was intended to protect underage players from aggressive monetization and addictive behavior through time limits and parental controls, but it turned out to be too widespread and damaging. Campaign organizer Ross Scott described the document as a draconian measure that could disrupt the market.
Activists say the new rules will force all users to disclose personal data to access online projects, will significantly increase development costs for small studios and effectively make private servers illegal. If the law is passed in its current form, it risks causing a massive collapse of the European gaming ecosystem under the banner of a security struggle.
