Three insiders reported that the Chinese company Tencent Holdings is working on adapting the incredibly popular role-playing game Elden Ring for mobile platforms. The company is allegedly looking for a new hit to refresh the range of its games.
One of the world’s largest gaming companies bought the licensing rights to the game from Japanese developer FromSoftware back in 2022 and created a team of several dozen people to work on the prototype. At the time, Tencent Holdings was reluctant to reveal plans to develop a mobile version of Elden Ring.
Let us remind you that the original Elden Ring received many awards, starting with two victories at The Game Awards 2020 and The Game Awards 2021 in the category “Most Anticipated Game” and ending with victories at The Game Awards 2022 in the categories “Best Game Direction”, “Best Visual design” and “Best role-playing game”.
Experts suggest that Tencent Holdings is going to turn the mobile adaptation of Elden Ring into something similar to Genshin Impact, which earned almost $2 billion in purchases on iOS and Android platforms in 2022 alone.
However, given that the original game does not include microtransactions, it is not yet clear what the project will ultimately look like and when to expect release.
