Last night the PlayStation State of Play for Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth was broadcast – and it not only brought with it plenty of fresh game impressions, but also the previously leaked demo, which you can download now.
From February 29, 2024, the sequel Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth is set to cause quite a stir on the PlayStation 5. In preparation for the release, Sony and Square Enix broadcast another PlayStation State of Play yesterday, which only focused on the JRPG sequel. There were plenty of new game scenes to see – and a playable demo was also released.
The trial version had already been leaked online in advance of the State of Play and is now officially confirmed and ready for download. This means you can get an initial picture of the game for yourself before the sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake is released.
According to creative director Tetsuya Nomura, you can play the iconic Nibelheim flashback as both Cloud and Sephiroth in the demo. One of the opening chapters of Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth awaits you, in which you can not only explore the first parts of the large game world, but also have to make some strategically important decisions. The Nibelheim Incident takes place five years before the events of the main game.
In addition, according to Nomura, the Junon region will be added to the demo in the coming weeks until the full version is released; It is expected to happen sometime on February 21st. To gain access to this region, you must have previously completed the Nibelheim chapter. Important: The Junon region was made more compact for the demo, which is why the game progress achieved there cannot be carried over into the later full version.
Separately, in the full version you unlock a Kupo talisman and a survival set when you save a demo game. You can also skip sections that already appeared in the demo.
Incidentally, you can take another look at the PlayStation State of Play from last night, which has plenty of additional information and, above all, lots of gameplay impressions for you. Among other things, the combat system was presented with new synchro skills and the combination of real-time action and strategy commands. Various regions of the game, means of transport such as chocobos or the desert buggy, dialogue decisions and the character skill trees were also shown. The soundtrack will contain over 400 tracks.
It was already known that Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth would have a huge appetite for storage. The download of the title should weigh a whopping 145 GB and therefore requires a lot of space on your PlayStation 5.
Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth is the sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake – a remake of the RPG classic originally released in 1997 with modern graphics, voice acting and fresh gameplay.
