After showing the new trailer for Death Stranding 2 On the Beach and announcing the close collaboration with Sony for a new tactical esionage game, Hideo Kojima returns to talk about OD, the experimental horror game created in partnership with Microsoft.
Hideo Kojima has always done some strange things, and the fans of the Japanese author have learned over the years to appreciate him also and above all for this. Kojima apparently took Xbox boss Phil Spencer and other members of Microsoft’s gaming team to a traditional Japanese purification ceremony, as revealed during the long-awaited return of the YouTube series HideoTube. Kojima avoided revealing substantial details about the mysterious game, and specified that the information will be released “gradually”.
Kojima showed a photo taken while he was in the company of Spencer and Sarah Bond explaining that, due to the horror nature of OD, he joined them during the Shinto Oharai ceremony, presumably to purify the game and keep evil spirits away. “You know how before shooting a horror or drama movie, people go to the Oharai shrine?” Kojima said. “Well, this is a horror game, so we did the Oharai ceremony with Microsoft.”
Hideo Kojima has ensured that OD will be a different game from the norm, and after this revelation we don’t even have a hard time believing it.
