Screen protection glass is very useful for protecting often expensive screens, but can make the use of said screen more complicated. Fortunately, it is possible to adjust the touch sensitivity, but manually. Google is adding an option in the latest Android 14 beta to do this automatically.
More or less sensitive Pixels
It was Android Police who delved into the latest beta of Android 14, QPR3 Beta 1. It was also in the latter that we discovered the first clues about the Pixel Tablet 2. Its journalist Mishaal Rahman there discovered a new “adaptive touch” feature, still in preparation. According to its description, it “automatically adjusts touch sensitivity based on environment, activities, and screen protection.” This parameter is combined in the new “Touch sensitivity” submenu in the display settings.

However, we do not know what environmental factors or activities are taken into account in the modification of said tactile sensitivity. However, we can imagine that in extreme cold or during rainy events, Pixel smartphones reduce touch sensitivity. This will make it easier for those who have gloves to use their phone. On the other hand, the rain will no longer be able to activate the screen and send annoying messages to loved ones or play a piece of music that we hate.

For the moment, we do not know which Pixel smartphones will be compatible with this future feature. It seems logical that at least the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will be, since they are the latest models released by Google. In addition, these smartphones have a screen protection detection function. By activating it, it increases the tactile sensitivity when placing a glass on the smartphone screen.
