Recently at the publication Comicbook an interview took place with actor Joe Manganiello: during it, the actor talked about what he once proposed Marvel film your own version of Colossus. According to the actor, such an unusual choice of character on his part is due to the fact that he likes Russian culture – he had the opportunity to get to know Russia properly when he studied at the Moscow Art Theater:
“At some point, I proposed a reboot of Colossus to Marvel Comics. During college, I studied a little Russian, and learned to speak Russian fully after studying at the Moscow Art Theater. I even recorded a short film in which I spoke Russian. I “I’ve always felt a bit of an affinity with the Russian people – and I also like that I have a lot of Eastern European blood in me. So there’s something there, I really thought it would be cool to show a more modern take on Colossus.” – said the actor
The actor did not specify whether the publisher took his proposal into account, but judging by the fact that the rights to Colossus were transferred to Marvel relatively recently (after Disney purchased 21st Century Fox), then not much time has passed since this conversation and perhaps the studio will still consider his proposal.
In the comics, Colossus is Pyotr Rasputin, who was born in the city of Irkutsk. Soon his family moved to Leningrad. Professor X found Colossus with the help of Cerebro and invited him to join the X-Men team.
