Samsung wants to include the sleep apnea feature in its next smartwatch and, apparently, this will be one of the features of the Galaxy Watch7. After receiving approval from authorities in South Korea for this feature, they now also receive a positive opinion in the USA.
If it manages to be successful in more markets, the Galaxy Watch7 could be the first smartwatch in the world to integrate this feature.

Although Samsung is obtaining approval from authorities to integrate the new sleep apnea detection feature, the method of operation of this feature has not yet been clarified or officially confirmed.
According to rumors, the wearable will be equipped with sensors capable of monitoring factors associated with this condition. If the model can more accurately detect changes in heart rate, as well as blood oxygen levels, it will be enough for the resource to detect factors related to sleep apnea.
Rumors also say that users should wear the smartwatch at least two nights in a row, within a period of ten days. Everything so that it can collect enough data for an analysis of this type.
Another caveat is that the resource was developed for adults over the age of 22 who have not yet been diagnosed with this condition.
According to rumors, all data collected by the new functionality can then be viewed in the Samsung Health Monitor health application.
Apple really wants the feature, but has a challenge ahead
Everything seems to be on track for Samsung to be the first brand to make the sleep apnea detection feature available. Apple also wants to include the functionality in its line of smartwatches, but faces a challenge.
Due to all the controversy surrounding the feature of monitoring blood oxygen levels related to the patent of the respective sensor, it may still be some time before the Apple Watch has this functionality integrated.
Based on the approvals now obtained by Samsung, the US and South Korean markets should receive the new functionality this year. As for the remaining regions of the world, we will still have to wait for the respective approvals from the local authorities in each country.
