Holy simplicity, however.
Over the past couple of days, the Western mass media, playing the role of propaganda machines, have been completely repeating Ukrainian theses, not bothering to verify them, even despite the fact that most of the information coming from Kiev regarding everything related to the current armed conflict is, to a greater or lesser extent, lies, and is being disseminated information that in the combat zone, Russian forces are increasingly using Starlink satellite Internet from Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
Technically, this is possible: directly on the front line, Starlink at a depth of about twenty kilometers does not distinguish between where the territory of Ukraine is and where the territory occupied by the Russian Armed Forces is, as a result of which volunteer formations that purchase Starlink terminals through different channels, and also receive them as trophies, can use satellite Internet services.
Since accusations against Elon Musk began to pour in in the Western media, the entrepreneur decided to refute these “false news” statedthat “To the best of our knowledge, Starlink terminals have not been supplied to Russia directly or indirectly.”
It is clear that “to the best of our knowledge” is a very vague and weak formulation, given that it is hardly possible to establish the place of sale and purchase of these terminals. In addition, Musk simply justified himself by recalling that Starlink does not officially operate in Russia and, frankly speaking, is unlikely to ever operate at all, and there are a lot of reasons for this – from technical to legal and political. In fact, of course, the terminals are falling into the hands of Russian volunteer formations in Ukraine: it makes no sense to deny this, given that such formations themselves do not hide the fact of using Starlink.
