Blizzard is planning numerous changes for Overwatch 2 to breathe new life into the free2play shooter. The aim is to make the PvP experience “more rewarding and entertaining” and provide “more transparency for players in the game,” according to the company.
Blizzard wants to respond to player feedback from the past eight seasons and is planning “big updates” for better development of skills within the title. An improved ranking system will be updated after each match, including progress indicators between the individual skill divisions.
Transparency in matchmaking is increased by displaying modifiers used that influenced the last game played. Overwatch 2 – Season 9: Champions starts on February 13th and, in addition to a new progression system, also brings “major gameplay changes to gameplay, hero skills and passive skills”.
According to game director Aaron Keller, the drive for change comes directly from the community to make the game “more fun and challenging for everyone.” The Blizzard employee revealed this in a blog entry.
