While we continue to wait for March, which increasingly insistent rumors outline as the month of the long-awaited announcement of Nintendo Switch 2, new rumors have emerged from the web on the alleged hardware characteristics of the new console from the Kyoto company.
According to a new report signed by Max A. Cherney and Stephen Nellis for the authoritative Reuters agency, Nintendo Switch 2 would be equipped with customized hardware from NVIDIA. The new console would therefore mark the renewal of a partnership already started with the current Switch, which features a Tegra X1 chip from the same Santa Clara company. From the same report, which cites an unspecified source, it also emerges that the launch of Nintendo Switch 2 would be expected during 2024.
Reuters’ rumors about the next console from the Kyoto company have come in the context of a much broader investigation into the new strategies of NVIDIA, which is reportedly starting a new unit dedicated to the design of chips for cloud computing and processors powered by Artificial Intelligence. In the report, which you can consult by following the link to the source, no reference is made to the rumored announcement period, but whether the launch is really scheduled for this year then it is possible that the reveal won’t be long yet.
It is certainly not the first time that the renewal of the collaboration between Nintendo and NVIDIA for the new Switch, however a further “confirmation” by Reuters does nothing but reinvigorate the rumors already circulated in the past. At the end of last year, we recall, the insider Nate the Hate (the same one who is aiming for March for the reveal of Nintendo Switch 2) also anticipated the possible support for NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 with AI-based Ray Reconstruction technologies aimed at strengthening of the performance of Ray Tracing, excluding however the presence of Frame Generation technology.
