Motion Twin and Evil Empire studios announced that the next update for the action platformer with roglite elements Dead Cells will be the last. After the release of the 35th update, The End is Near, the developers plan to shift their attention to other projects.
“Update 35 for Dead Cells marks the end of our creative journey with the game. After an incredible five-year collaboration to add additional content to Dead Cells, the Evil Empire team will embark on new adventures,” summed up the co-creators of the action platformer.
The final update will add three new types of weapons, colorless mutations, new enemies and much more to the game. After the release of The End is Near update, the game will only receive important technical patches.
The decision to abandon further active support for Dead Cells was finally made after the release of the largest addition, Return to Castlevania. Specialists from Motion Twin and Evil Empire felt that the endless release of large updates for Dead Cells would at some point tire the public, and the game itself would lose its “unique charm.”
Dead Cells was released in August 2018 on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, and was subsequently released on iOS and Android.
