This Thursday, Microsoft released the new preview build 26052 for Windows 11, officially beginning the preparatory work for this year’s major OS update 24H2. At launch, users in the Canary and Dev channels can upgrade to the new version and try out upcoming functions such as the sudo command in Windows.
Games don’t start
If you want to play with your system, you should stay away from the first preliminary version of Windows 11 24H2. In a subsequently adapted passage, Microsoft points out an error: Apparently, some unspecified popular games may not work correctly and cannot be started. Instead, you only see a green screen.
“Some popular games may not work correctly and cause a bug check (green screen) when launched with the latest Insider Preview builds in the Canary channel.”
At the same time, Microsoft explicitly asks for feedback in this regard. If you have problems with some games with build 26052, you should report them via the Feedback Hub. The exact cause of the problem is probably still as unclear as the number of titles actually affected. If you just want to play a few rounds in a relaxed manner, you should definitely not upgrade to the latest preview version for the time being.

However, if you are already using the new version and are struggling with the problem mentioned, you will have to wait for an update from Microsoft. Alternatively, you can reset Windows 11 using a previously created system image or, of course, reinstall the operating system completely. Hopefully this won’t be necessary in most cases, since the affected build is an early test version that probably not too many users have installed yet.
