An independent development team from the ByteRockers’ Games studio is going to release an intriguing roguelike called Beat Slayer this April. The authors of the project describe it as a unique mixture of genres, unlike anything else. Here the creators cheated a little, because Beat Slayer immediately resembles the action game Hi-Fi Rush and another roguelike Hades, but this comparison is only a plus for the future new product.
Beat Slayer features classic roguelike mechanics, featuring replayable, repeatable stages with unique differences and abilities. Each race promises to be unique thanks to a variety of weapons, abilities and opponents. The main feature of the gameplay of the project will be the emphasis on the musical component and rhythm.
To successfully complete Beat Slayer, it is important to move and fight to the rhythm of the music, as was the case in Hi-Fi Rush. The project has in common with Hades a similar visual style and a tilted camera perspective with some other gameplay mechanics.
Instead of being in the background, the music takes center stage. Join Mia, a cool music lover and skilled craftswoman, as she battles hordes of robots in a dystopian ’90s-style Berlin. There is only one rule: keep the rhythm!
Beat Slayer will be released on PC via the Steam digital store on April 4. Anyone can already try out the project using a free demo version.
