Ahead of tomorrow’s release, we received the international reviews for “Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden” today. As this makes clear, with the new action role-playing game from Don’t Nod we are dealing with a title that divides opinion.
After another postponement, “Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden”, the new action role-playing game from the “Life is Strange” and “Vampyr” makers of Don’t Nod, will be released tomorrow for consoles and PC.
The first reviews from the international press arrived this evening. As can be seen from the tests, “Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden” is a title where opinions differ to a certain extent. Everything is represented, from dream ratings of 9.5 out of ten points to ratings in the 60s.
The story of the action RPG is unanimously praised, as it not only has numerous exciting twists and turns. In addition, according to the testers, there are emotional scenes and sections that will stay with us for a long time. The difficult decisions that we have to make again and again during the course of the adventure are also positively highlighted.
There are deductions for the unspectacular combat system and the manageable role-playing mechanics. In addition, “Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden” is struggling with minor technical problems.
According to currently 37 reviews, the average rating is auf Metacritic to 78 points.
That’s what our international colleagues say
The editors of Gaming store gave it eight out of ten and the following conclusion: “Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden may not be revolutionary in anything it does, and from a gameplay standpoint it can sometimes feel a little too straightforward for good. But with a well-executed setting, a captivating story, excellent protagonists and… with its truly compelling moments of choice and consequence, it is an easy game to recommend for fans of the genre.”
Also Screenrant gave it an eight out of ten rating: “Banishers: Ghosts Of New Eden is an interesting and innovative action role-playing game with a few flaws here and there that prevent it from being perfect. Its emotionally strong core story keeps players on their toes until the end, while the core moral mechanics have enough complexity to keep players thinking about their decisions.”
GamesRadar was a little harsher on the action RPG and only awarded six points: “The later phases of the game at least sharpen the experience somewhat. […] But that’s not enough to stop Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden from feeling sluggish. The open world remains in the shadow of its famous predecessors, featuring few of the challenging puzzles, fascinating sights or gripping combat situations that have made its reputation.”
