After much anticipation, Deadpool 3 finally got a full trailer, which was accompanied by some big news. The film, in fact, will be called Deadpool & Wolverine, and received its official preview during the Super Bowl, the major sporting event in the United States.
As the name suggests, one of the attractions of the trailer are the references to Wolverine. The character played by Hugh Jackman will return in Wade Wilson’s feature film, as confirmed in a video presentation of the film with Ryan Reynolds.
The new trailer also confirms that the feature film will have a connection to the MCU, something that was already expected. After all, FOX was acquired by Disney, bringing the X-Men characters to the Marvel cinematic universe.
Connect with Loki and more!
Deadpool’s big connection with the MCU happens through the Loki series, which had its second season released last year. Right at the beginning of the preview, we have the character being “kidnapped” by the TVA, the temporal organization of the Marvel universe.
Next, we have the character of Matthew Macfadyen, award-winning actor from the series Succession, who works at TVA and introduces Deadpool to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Defining himself as the “Jesus of Marvel”, the antihero appears in a sequence of scenes with lots of action.
In the end, we still have a brief clash between Deadpool and Wolverine, following the character’s characteristic line of humor. Now we just have to wait for more official news about the film, which arrives later this year.
Wolverine appears in the title and trailer for Deadpool 3.
The release of Deadpool & Wolverine is scheduled for July 26th in theaters. The feature film will be the main Marvel film on the big screen during 2024.
