Regardless of whether you are a fan of manga, anime or video games from Japan, it is impossible if you have never heard the name of the giant media company from the land of cherry blossoms – KADOKAWA. In the gaming industry, his name is often mentioned when discussing From Software games considering that KADOKAWA itself is the parent company of the dev. Sekiro and Elden Ring. What’s even more interesting, as if they want to continue to encourage their gaming industry business which has indeed made a positive contribution in the last financial report, KADOKAWA has also just acquired another Japanese developer which is no less impressive.
Via the latest financial report they released, KADOKAWA confirmed the full acquisition process for Acquire – dev. which has given birth to a cool RPG game – Octopath Traveler. KADOKAWA itself shared its “history” with Acquire, which in the past had created games like Tenchu and Way of the Samurai, which were founded under the banner of this giant Japanese company.
Dev. Octopath Traveler – Acquire now stands under the KADOKAWA banner.
Unfortunately there is no information about the total amount of money spent by KADOKAWA for this action. It is believed that this step will strengthen the capabilities and planning in their game development process globally, as well as increase the attractiveness of their game line-up in the console market.
KADOKAWA and Acquire themselves haven’t talked much about what kind of game projects they are currently working on. Will this acquisition process bear fruit in the future? Let’s just wait.
