Over the past year, not only Intel Corporation, but also the Chinese company Moore Threads have achieved a noticeable increase in the performance of video cards. It debuted in this market at the end of 2022 with the MTT S80 model. Despite the seemingly good technical characteristics, in the first reviews it showed itself to be an analogue of the GeForce GT 1030 with power consumption of up to 250 W.
Thanks to software improvements, Moore Threads was able to almost double the performance of its video cards. A fresh review from the Chinese publication EJ Hardware shows that the results of the MTT S80 and S70 in synthetic benchmarks with the latest driver have increased by more than 100%. A similar performance boost can be seen in popular games like Genshin Impact, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Crossfire, Risk of Rain 2 and Dota 2.
It’s fair to say that Moore Threads devices are still far from matching the performance of modern AMD and Nvidia video cards. Even taking into account the low price (about $200 for the MTT S80 and $130 for the MTT S70), these 3D accelerators can hardly be called an interesting gaming solution. But, as we see, the company continues to work on video card software and, perhaps, in the future it will be able to compete in the segment of low-cost gaming GPUs.
