The budget for the new film starring Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell and Bryce Dallas Howard is estimated at $200 million – the film’s box office over the last weekend fell by 62%, adding only $6.5 million to the film’s current total.
Previously, director Matthew Vaughn spoke about his desire to turn Argyle into an entire franchise, but with such indicators such a development is doubtful. True, the tape has yet to be released on AppleTV+where it can increase the level of viewer interest.
The film managed to collect negative ratings among critics and viewers – on Metacritic the film has 35 points and 3.9 points, respectively. On Rotten Tomatoes the situation is better – 32% and 71%.
The plot of the film tells about the author of spy novels Ellie Conway (Howard), whose events begin to take place in the real world – and real agents are hunting for her.
The comedy also started poorly at the box office. “Lisa Frankenstein” — it has grossed $3.8 million (with a budget of $13 million).
But the musical “Mean Girls” managed to collect $100 million at the box office – the original with Lindsay Lohan in the past collected $130 million. The plot of the film tells about the heroine who falls in love with a guy from a new school – but he is connected with the main “popular” girl from the class.
At the same time, the release of the new version of the musical will take place in online cinemas on February 20.
Action movie box office “The Beekeeper” reached $133.8 million worldwide, and “Vonka” earned $587 million, although the last film was already released digitally.
At the cartoon “Migration” in the “piggy bank” there are 235 million dollars (the budget was equal to 70 million dollars).
