The creators of the cooperative shooter Helldivers 2 believe that the right to monetize in games must be earned. They themselves provide the opportunity for such support for their project, but do not force anyone to do it.
In these words, Helldivers 2 creative director Johan Pilestedt answered to a comment in which Arrowhead praised for supporting a “non-predatory” monetization model for PlayStation multiplayer games.
According to Pilestedt, the studio did make every effort to avoid making Helldivers 2 a pay-to-win (P2W) project – despite the fact that additional in-game items vary in functionality. The only thing worth the money is a revolver, which looks cool, but is inferior in performance to other weapons.
Helldivers 2 was released on February 8 on PlayStation 5 and PC, where it became the most successful PlayStation release on Steam in terms of peak online activity. The circulation of the new product was approximately 1 million copies sold.
Meanwhile in Arrowhead continue to work working on fixing Helldivers 2 problems related to server load.
