One of the users Amazon filed a class action lawsuit against the company for increasing the fare price Prime Videowhich allows you to watch subscription content without advertising.
Amazon Prime initially cost $15 per month or $139 per year for Amazon Prime members, giving them access to Amazon’s online movie catalog as well as various other store perks.
However, since January of this year, the cost of a subscription to a similar tariff has increased by $3 per month, which has not pleased its owners much.
The plaintiff claims that Amazon, with its changes, essentially violated its contract with customers by raising the price of a plan that previously promised no advertising. In addition, some users had previously paid for a yearly subscription, so these changes came as a big surprise to them.
Amazon is following in the footsteps of other online movie theaters that have also begun raising the prices of their subscriptions – Netflixfor example, will begin removing its base ad-free rate this spring.
Previously, the cost of the basic Netflix tariff was $12, but now an alternative option with advertising will cost those interested $7. The cheapest option without advertisements is $15.49 – in other words, the price increase was 30%.
