Third-person shooter Helldivers 2 from Sony Interactive Entertainment and Arrowhead Game Studios is available now on PS5 and PC, and if you want to know how the two platforms differ, read on.
Helldivers 2 offers two graphics modes on PS5 – Quality and Performance. In terms of settings, both modes provide a similar experience, with the difference mainly coming down to the quality of shadows and ambient occlusion. Meanwhile, the PC version offers the best graphics experience thanks to higher quality settings.
In terms of image quality, the PS5 version of Helldivers 2’s dynamic resolution in quality mode is aimed at 4K (2160p), but is typically set at 1800p. In performance mode, the game also runs at dynamic resolution, which is usually 1080p. On powerful systems, the PC version can run at native 4K resolution and deliver significantly higher image quality.
As for performance, the PS5 version of Helldivers 2 has a frame rate of 30 fps in quality mode. In performance mode, consoles target a frame rate of 60 fps. For the most part, the game is able to maintain the target framerate in both modes. However, when there is high activity on the screen, performance dips are observed. At the same time, the PC version is able to support higher frame rates and provides a more responsive gaming experience.
Overall, as you’d expect, the PC version of Helldivers 2 is capable of delivering a better gaming experience than the PS5 version.
Helldivers 2 is the sequel to 2015’s Helldivers, which was a top-down co-op shooter. The game was released for PlayStation 5 and Windows on February 8, 2024.
