The creators of the popular multifunctional tool Flipper Zero announced a collaboration with the developer of single-board computers Raspberry Pi. The result of this collaboration was the creation of a special external module, Video Game Module, which allows you to turn the Flipper Zero multitool into a simple game controller.
The $49 (or 49 euro) Video Game Module itself is based on a Raspberry Pi RP2040 microcontroller. The module is equipped with a gyroscope and accelerometer to track the user’s hand movements, and can transmit video signals to an external monitor or display via HDMI supporting a resolution of 640 × 480 pixels and a refresh rate of 60 Hz.
According to Flipper, the Video Game Module allows you to play simple games and run applications written in C, C++ or MicroPython.
Although the Flipper Zero gadget is better known as a device for hacking or testing security systems, it is capable of much more. Last year, Flipper Devices, the developer of Flipper Zero, launched its own application store for the device, accessible through a proprietary mobile application – it offers various third-party open source software for the gadget.
As for the Video Game Module, it seems that it can be used not only for games, but also programmed for other tasks. According to Flipper Devices, the Video Game Module can operate as a standalone device.
