As you may know, upscaling features are revolutionizing the world of modern video games, allowing you to reach new levels of performance without sacrificing visual quality! In fact, in some games and upscaling technologies, it is even possible to have greater performance, while also achieving greater visual quality.
This is where many modern graphics cards focus less on pure, hard performance, and increasingly focus on software. A strange strategy, which is not working badly for NVIDIA and AMD.
A strategy that could turn out to be even better in the near future, thanks to help from Microsoft.
Windows 11 24H2 will bring Super Resolution to everyone!
Therefore, a recent information leak points to Microsoft ready to explore the integration of upscaling solutions for all types of applications in the next Windows 11 update (24H2).
In fact, despite the fact that the functionality is still incomplete, some users of insider versions of Windows have already found some references, as well as the button that will be used to activate it. Where is it? In the settings (System -> Screen -> Graphics), called Auto Super Resolution.
What will change?
The possibilities are almost endless. One example is in media players, which can benefit from super-resolution without being dependent on specific application builds that support RTX video super-resolution or FidelityFX super-resolution. Another example would be games, which act as an alternative to Radeon Super Resolution and NIS.
However, it is worth noting that the functionality is currently available in the 24H2 version of Windows 11. An update that should be officially released later this year.
