We do not yet know when the session itself will take place.
CD Projekt RED sold at a charity auction the right to participate in recording animations for the next part of The Witcher. The auction winner paid 30,100 zlotys for this opportunity, which is approximately $7,400.
The bidding started at just 10 zlotys and grew to 1,000 zlotys after only a dozen bids. The bids reached 30 thousand zlotys only at the very end of the auction.
Please note: we are talking specifically about recording animations for one of the existing characters in the game, and not about the ability to introduce your own character into the new The Witcher and animate him yourself.
Recording of animations will take place until May 31, 2024. The auction winner will be invited to the CD Projekt RED headquarters in Warsaw (you will have to pay for the trip yourself), given a tour of the studio and presented with a gift set.
Before participating in the mocap session, the winner will undergo a short introductory course; The teachers will be developers and actors involved in recording animations. The auction description does not say how many animations the winner will record and there is no guarantee that these animations will eventually make it into the game.
The new part of The Witcher, created on Unreal Engine 5, is currently in an early stage of development. Full development of The Witcher 4 will start before the end of 2024; the game has neither a release date nor a release window.
