Among the numerous details emerging from its latest financial report, Sony confirmed that no games from its existing major IPs will arrive on PS5 by April 2025, while reiterating that its studios are continuing to work constantly to bring the next experiences to life PlayStation.
The next fiscal year should therefore not see the arrival of new games linked to large first-party franchises such as God of War, The Last of Us e Marvel’s Spider-Man although there will be no shortage of exclusives (temporary or otherwise) from external teams in the coming months, just think of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Of Square Enix, Rise of the Ronin Of Team Ninja e Stellar Blade Of Shift Up. However, there is another important name to take into consideration: Death Stranding 2 On The Beach.
Kojima Productions confirmed that Death Stranding will be released on PS5 during 2025, without however having specified a more precise launch window for the next work by Hideo Kojima. It is unclear at the moment whether Sony also considers it Death Stranding among the “large existing IPs” cited in his report, or whether Kojima’s work is external to a similar discussion and could be published on PS5 during the new fiscal year, therefore in a window between January and March 2025 If, however, the Japanese giant gives the brand the same importance as its flagship franchises, then Death Stranding 2 will not be published before spring 2025 at best.
For now it remains in the realm of pure hypotheses, in any case it is not so probable that Death Stranding 2 could become a reality already in the first months of next year, with Sony and Kojima Productions who could instead focus on a release of the game in periods warmer and, above all, more distant in time. The next few months will be useful to have greater clarity on the status of the works so as to understand when the new Death Stranding will actually become reality, but fans will certainly have to wait a long time before enjoying the next adventure Sam Porter Bridges.
