In 2020, Deus Ex voice actor Elias Toufexis was asked by Eidos to stop talking about his character Adam Jensen.
Other than rumors about successors hired internally at Eidos, there has been little news about the stealth role-playing game series Deus Ex in recent years.
In addition to the many fans of the series, Adam Jensen voice actor Elias Toufexis also wants a new Deus Ex offshoot. In the past, Toufexis has repeatedly commented on a possible future for the main protagonist from Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
In a new interview with PCGamesN, however, the voice actor doesn’t give much hope for an imminent successor with Adam Jensen in the lead role. The relationship between him and developer Eidos Montreal is not as good as one would assume and he hasn’t heard from the studio in a long time.
The last contact took place in 2020 when Eidos asked him to stop talking about Adam Jensen in interviews and podcasts:
“Even as [Eidos Montreal] went out and developed Guardians Of The Galaxy and one [Deus Ex]-Sequel was put on hold, I had to find out about it second hand. They didn’t even offer me an audition. They didn’t tell me anything. Everything I’ve heard is unofficial from friends, and that’s not much.”
“I remember being called by Eidos in 2020 to ask me to stop talking about Adam Jensen in interviews and podcasts because they wanted people to focus on other things at the studio, which really shows how popular Jensen is, or at least was.”
A week ago, Toufexis said goodbye to the character he had set to music in a Reddit post, but left open the possibility of a return if the Deus Ex brand was taken over by another company.
