What are the samples for? How do I find green, orange and pink samples?
What are samples used for?
In addition to fighting for the glory of Super-Earth and to spread freedom and democracy, carry out missions in Helldivers II will allow you to leave with several resources. We think, for example, of medalsbut also to Requisitions or to super credits. But if there is one resource that is more difficult to find and especially to bring back with you, it is samples.
However, you will have to make all the necessary efforts to find as many as possible if you want to be able to facilitate your missions. Indeed, samples are used to improve your ship, which will give you passive effects valid in all your games. By using the command console on the left side of your ship, you will have access to several different tabs. The first allows you to rename your ship, the second allows you to buy Stratagems with your Requisitions, and the third is where you can spend your samples to improve the ship. Depending on the improvements you choose, you can, for example, reduce the cooldown between two stratagems or increase the number of orbital strikes, among other things. However, you will quickly notice that you will need a lot of different samples to access these improvements.
The first thing to notice about the samples is thatthey are divided into three categories: greens, oranges, and pinks. Since all ship upgrades come in three different tiers, you’ll quickly notice that you often need green samples to purchase the 1st tier, greens and oranges for the 2nd, and all three types of samples for the 1st tier. 3rd level. No matter what type of sample you are looking for, you will only find them by exploring the game area during the different missions. However, Please note that you will only be able to find orange samples from difficulty mode 4 (Dangerous) and pink samples only from difficulty mode 7 (Suicidal). Furthermore, pink samples are much rarer than the others, there are generally only 5 per mission compared to around fifteen or twenty for greens and oranges.
To find the samples, you will therefore have to explore the game area of each mission as much as possible. Indeed, samples can take the form of small flowers, mushrooms or glass boxes and are scattered across the card, usually around primary objectives, secondary objectives, nests or factories, and exploration sites. In other words: wherever there is any interest, you may be able to find at least one sample.
Note that you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled if you want to find the samples, becausethey are not always very visible and you will only be able to spot their logo once you are very close to them. Fortunately, sometimes there is a way to reveal the location of all points of interest on the map. To do this, however, you will need to find thesecondary objective which consists in put a parabola in the right direction before activating a terminal. It is not always present in all missions, but when it is, completing it updates your map to display all points of interest. Your search for samples should therefore be easier.
Be careful, note that the samples you collect are dropped every time you die! If you succumb to an opponent, don’t forget to collect the samples from your corpse before exfiltrating yourself from the planet. Another important point: know that all players will recover the samples collected by their comrades during the mission if they manage to exfiltrate. In other words, recovering samples from your fallen comrades is not theft, but mutual aid. Don’t hesitate to do it!
