If a game is commercially successful, it usually doesn’t take long before other parties want a piece of the pie. Developers often try to make simple copies of successful formulas, but downright criminal approaches also come to light.
In the last few weeks, the indie game Lethal Company has really shaken up the Steam charts. The success not only surprised the community, the one-man developer Zeeckerss also did not expect the immensely high number of players. They have now flattened out a bit, but there are still a considerable number of fans on the servers.

Of course, others are now trying to build on Zeeckerss’ success. A smartphone app called Lethal Company: Mobile Horror is particularly nasty. A mod from the official server has now announced via Discord that it is by no means an official app and expressly warns against downloading it.
Additionally, fans are requested not to create links to the highly unofficial program. In doing so, you would only be supporting the “devious and malicious intentions that may lie behind this operation.” The application can be found in both the Android Play Store and the Apple AppStore – but you wouldn’t even look for it, would you?
We would also vehemently advise you against downloading it. With over 500,000 downloads and a reasonably good overall rating of 3.8 stars, the rip-off appears quite credible, but AlexKos Dev is clearly named as the developer. To protect your data and your smartphone, you should resist the urge. Especially since Zeeckerss himself explicitly warns against this.
