In the latest report Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that it does not plan to release major new products for its franchises in the next financial year – that is, they should not be expected until April 2025.
At the same time, the president Sony Group Hiroki Totoki added that there are some major projects in development:
In terms of software, we remain focused on creating high-quality new products and developing service games. While major titles are currently in development, we are not planning similar releases for major franchises in the next fiscal year.
Specific franchises were not named, but we can assume that we are talking about God of War, “Spider-Man” and similar series. However, the list does not include games like Concord or Until Dawn, which will soon receive a remake.
However, Sony expects software profits to be lower in the next fiscal year due to a certain drop in sales for the current period. And now the company is considering solutions that will help improve the situation in the future.
Sony expects a gradual decline in sales PlayStation 5 from the next financial year, although sales of new third-party products for the console should increase due to the growth of the PS5 user base and the high level of their involvement.
As for network services, the number of users should remain at a similar level, although it may still decrease slightly due to price changes.
In the same report, Sony also talked about sales of its games and consoles – for example, sales of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 exceeded 10 million copies. And recently it was noticed on the Internet that the company had registered a trademark Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
