Their manufacturers are already superior to American competitors on a technological level, as Ford representatives admit.
The acquaintance of European automakers with new products on the Chinese market has already led to local authorities becoming concerned about the threat of intense competition with electric vehicles from the Middle Kingdom. As Bloomberg explains, a similar thought occurred to the operating director of the electric vehicle division of the American Ford Motor, Marin Gjaja, who called inexpensive Chinese-made electric vehicles a “colossal strategic threat” that could sooner or later reach US shores.

According to a Ford representative, it is better to prepare for the invasion of Chinese electric vehicles in advance. Awareness of the reality of this threat was strengthened by the emergence of information about the intentions of the Chinese company BYD to build an electric vehicle production plant in Mexico, the launch of which will allow the manufacturer to minimize costs when supplying cars to the US market.
Ford Motor CEO Jim Farley recently admitted that the company, under conditions of heightened secrecy, is developing a new platform for creating inexpensive electric vehicles, which would allow the American market veteran to successfully compete not only with Chinese companies, but also with Tesla, which has more the affordable model is going to be produced in Mexico, as well as in Texas. The chief operating officer of Ford’s electric division admitted that Chinese companies “have already surpassed us in this technology.” According to him, if we do not engage in core developments now, then in the future Ford may cease to exist as a company.
